Procurement Specialist

About the role

Smartsheet is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join its Procurement team. The role is based remotely in Costa Rica and works closely with Legal, Finance, and Accounting throughout the Procure-to-Pay process. You will start with a hands‑on, transactional workload and have the opportunity to shape the function as automation tools are introduced.

Key responsibilities

• Own buying for designated lower‑value, low‑risk spend categories.
• Evaluate incoming purchase requests for completeness, policy alignment, and appropriateness.
• Apply commercial judgment to select vendors, confirm reasonable pricing, and secure favorable payment terms.
• Conduct light negotiations on price, terms, and renewals for lower‑complexity spend.
• Maintain supplier relationships, including onboarding, performance follow‑up, and issue resolution.
• Analyze spend and volume patterns to identify consolidation or savings opportunities.
• Execute day‑to‑day procurement tasks: intake, requisition creation, purchase order generation, contract routing, document loading, and record maintenance.
• Help evolve the procurement workflow as automation tools are deployed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or purchasing, comfortable with transactional processes.
• Ability to work independently and handle a significant manual workload.
• Willingness to adapt to new procurement technologies and contribute to process improvement.
• Strong commercial sense and basic negotiation skills for lower‑value spend.
• Residency in Costa Rica and ability to work remotely.
