About the role
We are looking for a Physics & Python expert to design and evaluate computational physics challenges for cutting‑edge AI models. This freelance, project‑based position works remotely and supports leading tech companies in testing and improving their AI systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design computational physics problems that require specialized simulation tools (e.g., FEniCS, OpenFOAM, Meep, REBOUND, CAMB).
- Write reference Python solutions, provide input files, and define domain or initial conditions.
- Set numerical answer criteria and tolerance thresholds for model evaluation.
- Run batch tests, calibrate difficulty, and aim for a model pass rate of 10‑30%.
- Iterate on problem definitions based on agent performance and reviewer feedback.
Required profile
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a related field.
- At least 2 years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
- Strong written English (C1+).
- Self‑motivated learner able to master new simulation packages quickly.
Required skills
- Python programming.
- Experience with at least one scriptable physics package such as FEniCS/DOLFINx, OpenFOAM, Meep, MPB, openEMS, Geant4, PYTHIA8, ROOT/PyROOT, WarpX, REBOUND, MESA, CAMB, CLASS, or bilby.
- Familiarity with Linux container environments.
