Payroll Specialist

About the role

The Payroll Specialist joins a regional team responsible for accurate payroll processing for Costa Rica and other countries within Smith+Nephew. The role involves end‑to‑end payroll execution, data entry, and system interfacing.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and review weekly, bi‑weekly or monthly payroll data, manage employee masterfile changes in Workday and local systems.
• Manage interfaces and reports between Workday HR and local payroll systems, execute outbound vendor interfaces.
• Audit payroll data, ensure correct tax, garnishment, and insurance withholdings, and respond to employee inquiries.
• Participate in system upgrade projects, continuous improvement and data analytics initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Payroll or Business field (or 6 years relevant experience).
• Minimum 2 years regional payroll experience processing 500+ employees.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent English; additional languages a plus.
