Payroll & Benefits Coordinator (Entry Level)

About the role

We are looking for an organized, detail‑oriented Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to support our Finance and People Operations teams in Costa Rica. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Total Rewards, you will gain hands‑on experience in payroll processing, benefits administration, and leave management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with bi‑weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate hours, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Review and verify timesheets, follow up on discrepancies with employees and managers.
• Enter new‑hire, termination, salary adjustment, and direct‑deposit data into the HRIS/payroll system.
• Support day‑to‑day benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance) and help with open enrollment.
• Respond to employee inquiries about benefits coverage, claims, and system navigation.
• Administer leave programs (FMLA, disability, parental leave, PTO) and maintain confidential records.
• Assist with compliance tasks, audits, and reporting as directed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years of exposure to HR, payroll, or accounting functions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential employee information with integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP) and Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with HRIS/Payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or BambooHR.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
