Assistant Director of People & Culture

About the role

As an Assistant Director of People and Culture at Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, you will support the Director of People and Culture in managing the full spectrum of HR functions. You will help create a positive, productive environment through employee relations, benefits, recruitment, development, compliance and training.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an objective third party for employee counseling, problem‑solving and conflict resolution, and flag legal matters to the Director.
• Analyze turnover patterns and implement strategies to reduce unsatisfactory trends.
• Oversee the People and Culture budget, labor and salary reporting, and organize cost‑effective staff events.
• Conduct regular audits of insurance records, vacation and sick accruals for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain detailed employment files physically and in Workday, delegating as needed.
• Update and manage HR and payroll systems to align with current policies.
• Enforce Four Seasons work rules, update the EmPact system when required.
• Collaborate with colleagues while preserving confidentiality on all HR matters.
• Administer and deliver training on benefits, core standards and company culture.
• Partner with the Director to follow up on Engagement Survey Action Plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of experience in a similar HR role, ideally within Four Seasons or another luxury hospitality organization.
• General understanding of labor laws and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with HR systems (e.g., Workday, AbhrilSoft) and payroll management tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
