Paralegal – Financial Markets & Products Legal Team

About the role

IDB Invest is seeking a dynamic Paralegal to support its Financial Markets and Products Legal Division. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents related to domestic and international transactions, regulatory matters, and strategic initiatives across the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review financing documentation, amendments, waivers, and other legal instruments for portfolio administration.
• Collaborate with GCL members and officers to address legal and regulatory issues throughout origination and support phases.
• Maintain and update model documentation and knowledge‑management tools for the Legal Department.
• Coordinate procurement of external legal services, manage retainer agreements, and track invoices.
• Oversee execution, notarization, and consularization of documents, and monitor conditions precedent and subsequent.
• File physical and digital legal records in compliance with IDB Invest policies.
• Conduct research on IDB Group policies, transaction precedents, and international best practices.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and promote knowledge sharing across stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• 2‑5 years of progressive legal experience, with knowledge of both civil and common law systems.
• Proficiency in English and one additional official IDB language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
• Eligibility to work in Costa Rica without sponsorship.
• No family members up to the fourth degree of consanguinity employed by IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
