Medical Scheduling Coordinator

About the role

EDGE is seeking a bilingual Medical Scheduling Coordinator to manage patient appointments, provider calendars, and administrative workflows. Based in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will ensure timely access to care and a smooth patient experience for U.S.-based healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule, and manage appointments according to visit type, provider availability, and practice rules.
• Maintain accurate provider calendars, protect time blocks, and adjust schedules to minimize disruptions.
• Monitor waitlists, coordinate openings, and handle patient outreach for confirmations, reminders, and follow‑ups.
• Collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the EHR while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
• Conduct pre‑appointment readiness checks and outreach for preventive visits and care gaps.
• Answer incoming calls, triage inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
• Apply knowledge of U.S. health insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid) during scheduling.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 + year of experience in U.S. healthcare or a medical educational background.
• Fully bilingual with high‑level English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Located in San Jose, Costa Rica and able to work onsite.
