Mechanical Engineer – SolidWorks Specialist (Remote)

About the role

This contract position is for a Mechanical Engineer specialized in parametric 3D CAD modeling. You will work remotely, creating and refining models for various manufacturing processes while supporting AI model training data preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Create fully‑parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies from written briefs.
• Edit and update existing models to meet new technical requirements, ensuring complete documentation.
• Audit models for dimensional accuracy, proper tolerance application, and manufacturability.
• Apply DFM principles for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting/forging, and other processes.
• Translate design intent into clear, structured CAD data suitable for AI training.
• Communicate progress and issues through detailed reports to project coordinators.

Required profile

• Strong experience with parametric CAD tools such as SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Practical knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 or equivalent standards.
• Hands‑on experience supporting at least two manufacturing methods (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting/forging).
• Active involvement in mechanical/industrial CAD modeling projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for clear project documentation.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or equivalent parametric CAD software).
• GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Knowledge of DFM for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting/forging.
• Reverse engineering techniques such as scan‑to‑CAD and point‑cloud conversion.
