Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing Support

About the role

As part of the Facilities team at Edwards Lifesciences, this technician supports the smooth operation of offices, plants and facilities in La Lima, Cartago. The role involves running experiments and tests to validate and improve equipment, software and manufacturing processes, and keeping documentation ready for Engineering review.

Key responsibilities

• Run experiments and tests following protocols to validate and improve equipment, software and manufacturing processes, then analyse results, recommend improvements and write reports for Engineering.
• Operate test equipment to assess manufacturing characteristics.
• Compile archive documentation such as ECRs, SOPs, drawings and tooling for Engineering approval.
• Work with Engineers, Technicians and Assemblers on experiments and production runs, and support equipment investigations, testing, product disposition evidence and rework.
• Update documentation in manufacturing software such as JDE, QMS and PLM.
• Help Engineering develop training and work instruction materials, and give feedback on possible redesigns of equipment, tools and fixtures.

Required profile

• High school diploma and a technical degree or diploma in industrial maintenance, electromechanical, electrical and/or electronics.
• 1-2 years of experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of production equipment, with troubleshooting ability.
• Availability for shift B, Monday to Friday 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Availability to work in La Lima, Cartago.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of routine preventive maintenance of production equipment.
• Moderate knowledge of validation and improvement of automated equipment, and of electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and controls systems.
• Knowledge of Edwards environmental health, safety and quality guidelines for clean-room medical device manufacturing, and of Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and strict attention to detail.
