Mathematics Teacher

About the role

Ballena Academy is looking for an experienced bilingual Mathematics Teacher to join its middle and secondary school team in Costa Ballena, Costa Rica. The role focuses on delivering engaging mathematics instruction, fostering logical reasoning, and supporting a diverse student body in both English and Spanish.

Key responsibilities

• Teach mathematics courses to middle and secondary students.
• Plan and deliver lessons that promote analytical thinking and problem‑solving.
• Develop assessments and classroom activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Support learners with varied academic abilities, learning styles, and language backgrounds.
• Encourage mathematical reasoning, accuracy, and independent thinking.
• Maintain a respectful, organized, and academically focused classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, school initiatives, and curriculum planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience at middle or secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content.
• Familiarity with IB, MYP, Cambridge, or similar educational frameworks.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
