Manufacturing IT Technician – Production & OT Support

About the role

The Manufacturing IT Technician ensures continuous availability and optimal performance of production equipment and related IT/OT systems across Bayer’s Costa Rica sites. Working directly on the shop‑floor, the role combines hands‑on technical expertise with system‑level troubleshooting to minimise downtime, maintain product quality and support digital transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage service operations for Manufacturing IT/OT and Industrial Control Systems, including MES, Track & Trace, laboratory and warehouse applications.
• Provide operational support for packaging lines, manufacturing lines, laboratory tools and fixtures, addressing wear, damage or malfunctions.
• Monitor departmental KPIs, collect data and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Support automation of manual activities such as user management, backup/restore, virus scanning, patch management, OPC connectivity and remote maintenance.
• Assist equipment qualification and validation activities, preparing protocols and documentation to meet regulatory standards.
• Deliver troubleshooting, user guidance and training to production, laboratory, warehouse and site teams.
• Coordinate with external service providers to meet service‑level targets.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical background with experience in manufacturing IT/OT environments.
• Ability to work closely with production lines and cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical mindset for KPI monitoring and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with regulatory and quality compliance in a production setting.
