Manufacturing Design Engineer – FreeCAD (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Manufacturing Design Engineer with strong expertise in FreeCAD to create production‑ready 3D models and detailed drawings for a variety of manufacturing processes. This contract position is fully remote and offers flexible hours ranging from 10 to 40 per week.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Generate complete engineering drawings, including GD&T annotations and tolerance stack‑ups, ready for manufacturing hand‑off.
• Design components for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Conduct CAD validation and quality‑assurance reviews to ensure models meet real‑world manufacturability criteria.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to refine models and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Hands‑on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing best practices.
• Ability to deliver production‑grade CAD models that pass manufacturability validation.
