Maintenance Engineer I – Shift B

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Maintenance Engineer I to join its Electrophysiology (EP) division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Working on Shift B, you will support the maintenance of equipment, fixtures and tools that enable the manufacturing of life‑saving cardiac devices.

Key responsibilities

• Interface with internal and external clients to manage and execute turnkey projects related to operations equipment, tooling and fixtures.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, ensuring compliance with Abbott’s quality and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement of maintenance and project execution systems, reporting results through established metrics.
• Conduct troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Support compliance with FDA, GMP and ISO guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance or Electrical Engineering.
• 0–3 years of experience in equipment, tooling or fixtures maintenance.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
• Familiarity with FDA, GMP and ISO regulations is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using MS Project.
• Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Root‑cause analysis.
