Legal Governance and Compliance Analyst

About the role

The Legal Governance and Compliance Analyst supports Emerson's Costa Rica Regulatory Compliance Trade Shared Services team. You will handle administrative tasks, respond to daily requests from global Emerson entities, and help ensure trade compliance activities meet record‑retention policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Restricted Party, Dynamic, End‑Use, End‑User and Anti‑Boycott screenings and analyze potential matches.
• Perform import and export audits for U.S. entities.
• Classify products using HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) and ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) codes.
• Collaborate with International Shared Services teammates and trade compliance contacts across the U.S. and Latin America.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support the team’s compliance reporting.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in customs administration, international trade, or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, International Trade, or a comparable discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (minimum B2).
• Ability to work independently, follow through on commitments, and adapt to change.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel).
• Knowledge of trade compliance requirements, including restricted‑party screening and HS classification.
• Familiarity with HTS and ECCN classification processes.
