Junior Software Engineer – AI Backend (Remote, Costa Rica)

About the role

We are building a LATAM‑based AI Scrum team that will develop and scale next‑generation AI platform components for a high‑impact initiative. As a Junior Software Engineer you will join the backend engineering group, working remotely from Costa Rica to create production‑grade AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Python‑based backend APIs using FastAPI.
• Develop Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and LLM‑driven services.
• Build and operate MLOps/LLMOps workflows for model lifecycle, deployment, and monitoring.
• Create CI/CD pipelines and ensure engineering quality standards.
• Collaborate on AI evaluation frameworks to monitor quality, safety, and reliability.
• Gain exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP (Vertex AI) and AWS.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Python backend development, preferably with FastAPI.
• Familiarity with large language models, RAG systems, or AI‑native applications.
• Hands‑on experience with MLOps or production ML pipelines.
• Comfort working in cloud environments (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable).
• Ability to build scalable, production‑ready AI systems.
