Junior Buyer – Procurement Role in Costa Rica

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Buyer to support Western Union’s global procurement function from our Santa Ana office in Costa Rica. You will help identify, qualify and select suppliers, ensuring the best quality and price for the company’s materials and services.

Key responsibilities

• Create purchase orders and issue bid requests in line with buying plans.
• Maintain accurate lead times, costs and order minimums.
• Communicate proactively with internal teams about sourcing issues or delays.
• Resolve supplier concerns promptly and ensure proper documentation.
• Follow established purchasing policies and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support ad‑hoc projects as required.

Required profile

• General business experience with a willingness to learn.
• Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
• Strong organizational, time‑management and multitasking abilities.
• Good financial understanding and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Analytical mindset with experience in spend analysis.
• Conscientious, diplomatic, flexible and dependable.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
