Junior Accountant

About the role

DHL is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its team in Heredia, Costa Rica. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial reporting in line with accounting principles and corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general ledger journal entries accurately and on time.
• Prepare month‑end ledger reports and support month‑end closing activities.
• Record intercompany invoices and monitor their processing status.
• Assist team members with accounting processes and issue monthly manual recharges.
• Execute monthly inter‑company reconciliations and confirmations.
• Support analytical reviews of balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
• Prepare and review balance‑sheet account reconciliations according to DHL’s operating model.
• Provide support for internal financial accounting controls and quality control of outsourced activities.
• Ensure financial statements comply with IFRS, Deutsche Post DHL policies, and regional guidelines.
• Assist with internal and external audit processes.
• Maintain and validate documentation such as SOPs, job aids, process flows, and period‑end timetables.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Accounting or current student in Finance/Accounting.
• Intermediate English proficiency.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Experience with SAP is a plus.
