About the role
The Distribution Manager will lead the end‑to‑end transport and distribution operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of products to customers. This senior position oversees the company’s own fleet, external carriers, route planning, and the teams responsible for execution.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, direct and control the complete transportation and distribution process, guaranteeing on‑time deliveries.
- Supervise route scheduling, guide (ID) creation, and order fulfillment.
- Manage regular routes, special 911 services, direct supplier‑to‑customer deliveries, and inter‑plant transfers.
- Monitor route performance using GPS and tracking systems, addressing deviations and incidents promptly.
- Ensure timely closure of delivery guides and maintain full documentation traceability.
- Oversee fleet maintenance, legal compliance, availability, and QuickPass system management.
- Negotiate contracts with external carriers, set SLAs, evaluate performance, and handle non‑compliance.
- Control automotive service providers, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and timely service.
- Report key transport KPIs such as OTIF, cost per delivery, cost per kilometre, fuel efficiency, customer service level and average delivery time.
- Analyse root causes of KPI deviations and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Lead continuous‑improvement projects, including technology implementation and process redesign.
- Maintain and update the transport contingency plan for accidents, fleet failures, road closures, weather events, etc.
- Set and monitor customer service standards during deliveries and act on satisfaction survey results.
Required profile
- University degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading transport, logistics and distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of transportation, fleet management, routing and relevant regulations.
Required skills
- Proficiency with GPS tracking systems.
- Experience using QuickPass or similar fleet management platforms.
- Route planning and optimisation expertise.
- Ability to analyse KPI data and drive operational improvements.
