Java Backend API Developer

About the role

VML Costa Rica is looking for a skilled Java Developer to join its Backend API Team. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable APIs that power a variety of client applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using Java and Spring frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate test coverage.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing API implementations.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Optimize application performance and scalability.
• Document APIs thoroughly for internal and external consumption.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Java development.
• Proficiency with Spring framework and modern API design patterns.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
