Instructional Coach

About the role

The Instructional Coach partners with teachers to enhance classroom practice, monitor student progress, and support collaborative teaching cycles. Working within a school environment, the coach facilitates data‑driven discussions, co‑planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Meet weekly with each teacher to review student needs and progress.
• Maintain a shared tracker (Google Docs) to monitor objectives and outcomes.
• Coordinate co‑teaching cycles each trimester, ranging from 4‑6 weeks or flexible periods.
• Run informal, non‑evaluative classroom observations.
• Organize peer‑observation and professional‑development sessions.
• Collaborate on lesson planning using Understanding by Design (UBD) backwards design.
• Develop projects, rubrics, and risk‑taking instructional strategies with teachers.
• Provide logistical support for conferences, grading, discipline, and other school operations.
• Facilitate reflection sessions after co‑teaching, projects, and academic director observations.
• Celebrate teacher achievements and share successful practices at school meetings.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
• Ability to ask guiding questions and foster reflective practice.
• Experience working in an educational setting with teachers.
• Comfort with collaborative planning and data‑driven decision making.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Docs for shared tracking and documentation.
