Immigration Legal Assistant (English & Spanish)

About the role

Wayfinder, the immigration law practice of Simple Legal Consulting, helps people find their way to a new life in Costa Rica. It is looking for an organized, proactive and personable Immigration Legal Assistant to support its team and international clients. The position is based in the Lindora office and requires working from there and attending appointments at public institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with clients in English and Spanish, keeping them informed about documents, appointments and case progress.
• Organize immigration files, review document checklists and assist with applications under attorney supervision.
• Schedule and accompany clients to police registration and fingerprinting appointments.
• Accompany clients to Correos de Costa Rica for DIMEX appointments and related procedures.
• Assist and accompany clients with social security enrollment at the Police and Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS).
• Follow up with public institutions and track deadlines, pending documents and next steps.
• Keep the case management system accurate and up to date.

Required profile

• Excellent spoken and written English, used daily with clients, in emails and when explaining the immigration process.
• Strong English and Spanish communication skills.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
• A patient, professional approach to people navigating unfamiliar procedures.
• Confidence using email, digital documents and case management tools.
• Availability to work from the Lindora office and attend appointments at public institutions.
• Discretion when handling confidential client information.
• Studies in law or experience in immigration, legal administration or client service are an advantage.
