HR Compliance Specialist

About the role

The HR Compliance Specialist supports employment compliance across federal, state, and local regulations. Working through the HR case‑management system, the role handles employee inquiries, processes unemployment claims, and executes audit programs while maintaining confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support via the HR case‑management (ticketing) system and external compliance portals for current and former employees.
• Process and manage unemployment claims through state agency portals, reviewing documentation and responding to agency requests.
• Ensure HR policies align with external regulations and internal compliance requirements.
• Acquire, maintain, and evaluate data from primary and secondary sources to identify trends and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Conduct routine audits of employment and regulatory standards, escalating issues to minimize risk.
• Handle sensitive employee reports and information discreetly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in HR, Labor Law, Business or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on employment compliance.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and effective written and verbal communication.
