Graduate Engineer - Renewables Grid Modernization

About the role

Ulteig is looking for a motivated Graduate Engineer to join its Grid Modernization team. You will support the design and execution of medium‑voltage distribution projects that enable a cleaner, more resilient energy grid.

Key responsibilities

• Develop grid‑modernization plans, including design criteria and distribution planning.
• Perform load‑flow studies and protection‑coordination analyses.
• Review DER interconnection applications such as battery storage and photovoltaic systems.
• Conduct technology research, project scoping, cost estimating, and scheduling.
• Review project drawings, calculations and specifications under supervision.
• Maintain client communication and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• EIT certification preferred.
• Previous experience with a utility is a plus.
• Analytical, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure.
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in Costa Rica.

Required skills

• Experience with distribution load‑flow software (e.g., DNV GL Synergi Electric, Milsoft Windmil, CYME Dist).
• Knowledge of DER interconnections, including battery energy storage and photovoltaic systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
