Gerente General – Hotel en Playa Hermosa

About the role

We are seeking a General Manager to lead the full‑service operation of a boutique hotel located on Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the manager will be responsible for delivering high service standards, profitability, sustainability and market positioning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily hotel operations, ensuring compliance with service standards.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams in reception, housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping and security.
• Manage key performance indicators such as occupancy, guest satisfaction, operating costs and direct bookings.
• Control administrative, financial and documentation processes.
• Coordinate human‑resource functions including inventory control, vacations, sick leave and personnel files.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers, travel agencies, tour operators and strategic partners.
• Design and execute digital marketing, promotion and brand positioning strategies.
• Supervise the hotel’s presence on OTAs, social media and tourism platforms.
• Drive sustainability initiatives and pursue tourism certification.
• Prepare executive reports and strategic recommendations for the Board.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of supervisory or managerial experience in small hotels, boutique properties or eco‑tourism projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage operational finances, budgets and KPI analysis.
• Strong track record of increasing occupancy and direct reservations.
• Experience negotiating with travel agencies, wholesalers and commercial partners.
• Advanced English proficiency; additional language is a plus.
• Hands‑on leadership style with excellent interpersonal communication.
• Emotional intelligence and capability to handle complex situations.
