Director of Study Abroad Programs

About the role

Maximo Nivel, a leader in study abroad and educational travel, is seeking a Director of Study Abroad Programs to oversee its international offerings from its San Jose office. The role involves managing volunteer abroad, internships, TEFL certification, language immersion, and adventure travel programs while ensuring exceptional client service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and expand Maximo Nivel’s international study abroad portfolio.
• Increase enrollment and drive revenue growth for all program lines.
• Provide end‑to‑end client support, including airport pick‑up, orientation, housing, travel logistics, and issue resolution.
• Maintain relationships with international and local partners, host families, and service providers.
• Produce regular operational reports using Excel (monthly registrations, weekly arrivals, housing allocations, class schedules, participant feedback).
• Oversee invoicing, payment collection, and coordination with academic and accounting teams.
• Lead a team of 5‑7 field managers and client service staff, setting objectives and fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing international education or travel programs.
• Strong client‑service orientation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Leadership experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
