Controller – Finance Operations (Hybrid, San José)

About the role

We are looking for a Controller to lead finance functions for our Costa Rica operations. The role is hybrid, based in San José, and reports directly to the US‑based CFO. You will be responsible for accurate reporting, compliance, and the migration of our accounting system.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close process and deliver timely financial reports to leadership.
• Manage day‑to‑day finance operations including AP, AR, invoicing, payroll oversight, cash management and general ledger reconciliations.
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to Foundations, ensuring data integrity and adoption of best practices.
• Develop and formalize accounting policies, financial controls and scalable processes to support growth.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with NIIF (IFRS) and local regulations.
• Handle Costa Rican tax compliance – corporate income tax, IVA, payroll remittances and statutory filings.
• Partner with HR and operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning and workforce cost tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Full professional fluency in English and Spanish.
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a Controller or senior accounting role.
• Proven experience with full‑cycle accounting, ERP implementations and NIIF reporting.
