Contracts Counsel

About the role

Emerson is seeking a Contracts Counsel to join its legal team. In this position you will review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to customer RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents, and contractual requests within established guidelines.
• Draft and negotiate contractual language that reflects business interests and policies.
• Lead less‑complex international and multi‑BU project contracts and frame agreements.
• Assume the Contracts Lead role on more complex projects as experience grows.
• Collaborate with customers, legal colleagues, and internal stakeholders to close deals.
• Analyze business, financial, and legal risks and provide guidance to sales and project management.
• Research existing agreements and compile data for reporting.
• Participate in approval processes to secure appropriate sign‑offs.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in a contracts‑related role.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Strong customer‑relationship skills and ability to act on new challenges quickly.
• Effective communication across the organization.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent oral and written English and Spanish.
• Experienced negotiation abilities.
• Extensive knowledge of contract law, commercial provisions, warranties, liquidated damages, payment terms, documentary credits, and bank guarantees.
