Commercial Contracts Counsel (Remote)

About the role

Experian, a global data and technology company, is looking for an experienced Contracts Counsel in Costa Rica to support its US business. The role is fully remote and involves independently drafting, reviewing and managing commercial agreements while partnering with US-based Legal, Sales, Finance, Information Security and other teams. The ideal candidate has worked with US companies and knows US commercial contracting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with US-based Commercial Contracts and Legal teams to facilitate efficient contract review, negotiation, approval and execution.
• Balance risks and opportunities to reach a mutually acceptable agreement and give clear, practical guidance on contract terms, obligations and risks.
• Advise colleagues on contracting policies, approval requirements, templates, negotiation positions and escalation procedures.
• Ensure agreements comply with company policies, contracting standards and legal and commercial plans.
• Support contract lifecycle management: intake, approvals, execution, repository management, renewal and expiration tracking, and accurate record keeping.
• Use legal technology and approved AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and quality.
• Support other commercial contracts and legal projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Degree in Law from a recognized Costa Rican university and good standing with the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Costa Rica.
• 3-5 years of experience reviewing, redlining and negotiating agreements.
• 1+ year of experience supporting US organizations and negotiating contracts governed by US law.
• 3+ years of experience with contractual concepts such as liability, indemnification, warranties, termination and data security.
• Experience negotiating agreements involving data and AI use cases.
• Ability to travel occasionally to the US for meetings or negotiations.
