Collections Team Leader

About the role

Spartan Capital Costa Rica is seeking a Collections Team Leader to support the daily performance and development of a team of Collection Specialists. This full‑time, on‑site position in San José focuses on executing collection strategies, managing portfolios, and achieving recovery targets.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor collection performance and conduct regular portfolio reviews.
• Assist collectors with negotiations, escalated accounts, and complex payment arrangements.
• Provide live coaching, conduct one‑on‑one sessions, and document action plans.
• Identify opportunities to increase recoveries and support training initiatives.
• Maintain an individual collection portfolio while meeting production targets.
• Collaborate with the Collections Supervisor to address performance gaps and implement improvement strategies.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on debt collection experience, preferably in hard collections or financial services.
• Proven ability to negotiate settlements and payment arrangements on delinquent accounts.
• Previous leadership experience as a Team Leader, Senior Collector, Lead Collector, or similar role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
• Relevant education in Business, Finance, Administration, or a related field is preferred.
