Buyer IV – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Abbott’s Electrophysiology division in Alajuela, Costa Rica is seeking a Buyer IV to manage the procurement of materials, services, and supplies essential for production. The role ensures competitive pricing, quality compliance, and timely delivery to support heart‑disease treatment technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders (POs) based on MRP requisitions and stock transfer orders (STOs) and monitor delivery against them.
• Negotiate estimated times of arrival (ETAs) and arrange vendor corrective actions to improve quality.
• Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventory levels and minimize shortages.
• Identify, approve, and onboard suppliers while establishing purchasing protocols that meet design and cost requirements.
• Collaborate with QA to develop supplier audit procedures and track performance.
• Manage purchasing records, verify invoices, and handle returns or credit arrangements.
• Source and quote goods and services to support division objectives and new R&D projects.
• Maintain and update the supplier database (ASL) and recommend pricing strategies.
