Job description
About the role
The Business Integration Manager coordinates the integration of the development and modernisation of Puerto Caldera port into the operating business. It is a brownfield project, so the role ensures port operations continue safely during execution and prepares the existing organisation for the transition. Reporting to the Project Director with a functional line to the terminal COO, the manager is the central link between the project team and operational stakeholders, working on site in Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the terminal's operational business set-up, recruiting the standing organisation in co-ordination with HR and departments, and supporting training, competency development and knowledge transfer.
- Develop and maintain the Business Integration plan, aligning it with project milestones and operational readiness requirements.
- Ensure operational requirements are built into project delivery, working with Project Engineering, Asset Delivery, Operations, HSSE and others.
- Keep existing port operations running during construction, coordinating with the terminal COO and the Head of Asset Delivery to minimise disruption.
- Integrate safety into operational processes, promote safety visibly on site, and manage safety risks during transition and start-up with the HSSE managers.
- Work with Project Controls to implement shareholder project controls and procedures, and help secure the permits and approvals needed for go-live.
- Contribute business and operational risks and mitigations to the project risk register, and assess the impact of changes in a controlled way.
- Prepare regular integration status reports on readiness progress, risks, outstanding actions and transition milestones.
- Build relationships with senior management, divisions and external parties, and ensure clear, consistent communication.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering or a related discipline; postgraduate study in project management, change management, operations management, organisational development or business transformation is desirable.
- Project management certification (e.g. PMI, Prince2, IPMA).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in large-scale complex heavy industry projects or similar fields with a strong focus on business integration, operations and project management, preferably with multidimensional stakeholder management.
- At least 5 years in large infrastructure, industrial, logistics, port, mining or energy projects.
- Experience in port terminal operations, with a solid understanding of quay, yard, gate and equipment operations.
