Windows Solutions Architect (Sr Staff Endpoint Architect)

About the role

A senior Windows architect is sought to provide strategic, functional and technical leadership for Windows architecture. The role designs Windows solutions for business partner requests and enhancements, enforces architecture governance and formally reviews endpoint-impacting changes. It works closely with the Windows Product Owner and the Device Configuration Owner and is an architect/leadership role, not a hands-on senior engineer position.

Key responsibilities

• Produce clear, scalable and secure Windows architecture and solution designs for business requests and product enhancements.
• Take part in and help run the Endpoint/Windows Architecture Review Board, with formal technical review and approval of endpoint-impacting changes.
• Provide architectural guidance and guardrails to desktop engineering, Device Configuration and other implementation teams.
• Collaborate with the Windows Product Owner, Device Configuration, Security, Infrastructure and business stakeholders.
• Maintain architecture artifacts such as reference architectures, decision records, technical standards and review checklists.
• Define and enforce Windows baselines, hardening guidance and configuration expectations with Device Configuration.
• Influence vendor selection and solution evaluation for Windows-centric components.
• Mentor engineers and architects on architectural reasoning, review discipline and governance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of IT experience with progressive responsibility in architecture, platform ownership or technical leadership, with a strong emphasis on Windows architecture at scale.
• Experience in regulated environments is required.
• Preferred: prior experience as a Windows architect in a team of architects, background in endpoint security architecture, and familiarity with Azure, Entra and Intune.
• Non-negotiable: clear evidence of leadership and governance experience, and exceptional communication and documentation skills.

Required skills

• Enterprise Windows architecture (Windows 10/11 Modern Desktop, servicing and feature management).
• Endpoint governance tooling such as SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune/MEM, Entra ID/Active Directory, VDI, WS1/AirWatch.
• Experience running or taking part in Architecture Review Boards.
• Proficiency in English, written and spoken.
