Systems Software Engineer

About the role

Join HPE's cutting‑edge software team to develop next‑generation storage devices. You will work onsite in Costa Rica, collaborating with hardware engineers to create high‑performance, reliable storage solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain low‑level software for storage devices, including drivers and firmware.
• Optimize algorithms and interfaces with hardware engineers to achieve maximum performance.
• Contribute to system architecture, data management, caching, and fault‑tolerance mechanisms.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including system‑level and performance testing.
• Research emerging storage technologies and propose innovative, patentable solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer, Electronics, or Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Proficient programming in C (required).
• Experience with Python or Rust (desired).
• Low‑level systems programming, embedded systems, or device driver development.
• Linux environment development, familiarity with the Linux kernel.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
