Spanish Interpreter/Operator

About the role

The Spanish Interpreter/Operator supports U.S. business hours by handling inbound customer calls, routing them to the appropriate interpreter, and providing live Spanish‑English interpretation when needed. The role is split roughly 70% operator duties and 30% interpretation, with flexibility to shift toward more interpretation during high call volume.

Key responsibilities

• Connect inbound calls to the correct interpreter using the operator portal.
• Schedule interpreters for pre‑planned telephonic appointments.
• Deliver accurate, fluent over‑the‑phone interpretation in English and Spanish.
• Follow scripted operator procedures and interpretation protocols.
• Monitor call quality and adhere to performance benchmarks.
• Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in interpretation, translation, or call‑center environments.
• Near‑native fluency in both English and Spanish, with strong cultural awareness.
• Pass a Lionbridge Spanish‑English assessment (70% or higher) and complete required training.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with VOIP telephone systems.
• Familiarity with Lionbridge glossaries and terminology lists.
