Senior Travel Planner

About the role

The Senior Travel Planner will manage B2C and B2B travel inquiries from first contact through confirmation and hand‑over to Operations. You will translate each client’s interests, travel style, priorities and budget into creative, well‑paced itineraries and commercially sound proposals, while guiding them confidently through the sales process.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with clients via email, phone and video calls, building trust and understanding their expectations, budget and travel style.
• Design highly personalized itineraries with logical routing, realistic pacing, suitable accommodations and distinctive local experiences.
• Prepare accurate quotations, protect margins and deliver strong value, handling complex or VIP requests with discretion.
• Maintain up‑to‑date client, quotation and sales information in TourPlan and other internal systems.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to verify availability, special arrangements and booking conditions.
• Provide complete, timely handovers to the Operations/Concierge team once a trip is confirmed.
• Anticipate potential issues, solve problems proactively and communicate changes clearly.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience as a Travel Planner, Travel Designer or similar role within a destination management company or incoming tour operator.
• Proven track record designing and selling tailor‑made travel for international clients, preferably in the luxury or high‑end market.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rica’s tourism regions, accommodations, experiences and logistics; knowledge of Panama is a plus.
• Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Demonstrated sales ability, including client qualification, consultative selling, disciplined follow‑up and closing.
