Senior Full-Stack Developer, AI Design-to-Dev

About the role

Appnovation, an AI product company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, is hiring a Senior AI Software Engineer in San José. The role works with a key strategic partner, a global industry leader, and focuses on the early stages of development where design systems meet AI-augmented coding. The position combines a strong technical foundation with strategic leadership: defining design system standards, optimizing AI-augmented workflows and mentoring a team of developers and AI builders.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the adoption of AI design tools (v0.dev, bolt.new, Lovable) to shorten the development cycle from weeks to days.
• Define and enforce technical standards for scalable, performant and accessible full-stack applications.
• Integrate Figma-based design systems with AI-driven development to automate handoffs.
• Manage a ticket-driven workflow in Jira and ensure technical documentation meets enterprise requirements.
• Bridge Strategy, Creative and Technology to align AI-powered solutions with business goals.
• Oversee backend services (Supabase, SQL/NoSQL) and authentication (OAuth, JWT).
• Build RESTful APIs and backend services with Supabase and collaborate with UX designers, AI builders and innovation leads.

Required profile

• 6-10+ years in full-stack development, with at least 3+ years in a management capacity; startup or rapid prototyping experience is a bonus.
• Proven track record implementing AI design tools and workflow automation (e.g., N8N) in a professional engineering team.
• Portfolio showing leadership of complex full-stack applications built with AI-augmented methods.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Frameworks: React, Vue, Nuxt; TypeScript; backend languages including Python, PHP and Node.js.
• Design systems, design tokens and Tailwind CSS.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth and JWT.
• Expert-level Figma, including design system management.
