Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager for its Costa Rica site in Alajuela. The role leads the EH&S function, ensuring compliance, risk management and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the site EH&S team, set priorities, manage resources and drive execution of EH&S programs.
• Integrate EH&S requirements into operations, projects and change management with cross‑functional partners.
• Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and support internal and external audits.
• Identify, assess and control EH&S risks related to processes, chemicals, equipment and facilities.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and hazards, leading root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive EH&S experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years of people‑management.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rican occupational health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive a proactive safety culture.

Required skills

• Implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
• Regulatory compliance, risk assessment and incident investigation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business systems.
