Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to lead the EH&S function at its Costa Rica site in Alajuela. The role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk, and supporting business objectives through effective EH&S programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the site EH&S function, set priorities and align initiatives with regulatory requirements and business needs.
• Coach, develop and manage the EH&S team, ensuring effective execution of programs.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, HR, Supply Chain and IT to embed EH&S requirements into projects and daily operations.
• Maintain compliance with Costa Rican regulations, company standards and ISO 14001/ISO 45001 systems.
• Oversee risk identification, assessment and control for processes, chemicals, equipment and facilities.
• Investigate incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor performance metrics, drive continuous improvement and promote a proactive safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive EH&S experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years of people‑management experience.
• Proven experience leading an EH&S function, implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and managing audits.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
