Senior AWS Cloud Engineer – Cloud Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our cloud operations team. You will own the reliability, governance, and automation of a large, multi‑account AWS estate, working closely with DevOps, security, and application teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CDK, following tagging, cost, and compliance standards.
• Manage end‑to‑end backup strategies with AWS Backup, monitor job completion, and ensure RPO/RTO objectives are met.
• Govern AWS Systems Manager (SSM) codebase, including runbook versioning, patch baseline testing, and multi‑account automation hygiene.
• Drive cloud cost optimization through Cloud Custodian policies, automating cleanup of orphaned resources such as unattached EBS volumes, unused Elastic IPs, stale AMIs, and idle EC2 instances.
• Monitor EC2 fleet health with Amazon CloudWatch, maintain dashboards, triage alarms, and coordinate incident resolution.
• Partner with security and compliance teams to enforce guardrails via AWS Config rules, Service Control Policies, and Cloud Custodian, ensuring adherence to CIS benchmarks and relevant regulations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience managing production AWS environments.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset in an Agile delivery setting.
• Proactive attitude toward identifying and remediating infrastructure issues.
