Quality Engineer III

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Quality Engineer III to join its Structural Heart Division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role supports manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure compliance with quality system requirements and drive key performance indicators such as NCMR, MA, yield, and cost‑reduction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical and statistical investigations to optimise processes and ensure specification compliance.
• Lead NCMR, calibration out‑of‑tolerance, and complaint (MA) investigations.
• Support and own major quality system investigations including CAPAs, HHEs and Stop‑Ship actions.
• Assist in preparation and execution of internal and external audits.
• Develop and author IQ, OQ, PQ, PPQ, and inspection‑test method qualifications.
• Provide supervisory guidance to Quality Technicians when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience in medical‑device or pharmaceutical quality control.
• 2‑4 years of experience in quality or engineering roles, with at least 2 years in manufacturing or quality engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience in statistical data analysis and technical report writing.
