Principal Engineer, Identity & Access Management

About the role

Edwards Lifesciences is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design, implementation and operation of Identity and Access Management (IAM) services. The role supports the company’s mission to deliver innovative medical technologies by ensuring secure, seamless access to critical systems worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead evaluation, testing and proof‑of‑concepts for IAM platforms and related security technologies.
• Drive maintenance, upgrades and scalability initiatives for IAM infrastructure, including SSO/federation, MFA, identity governance and privileged access management.
• Define technical solutions, create system diagrams and configure access control policies.
• Manage vendor relationships and act as technical lead for new product implementations.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, develop corrective actions and ensure reliability, availability, scalability and performance of IAM services.
• Provide training, coaching and knowledge transfer to team members and support incident resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Identity Governance & Administration, Privileged Access Management or Access Management/Federation.

Required skills

• Configuration of SSO protocols such as SAML and OIDC.
• Implementation of MFA solutions.
• RBAC/ABAC design and enforcement.
• Management of directory services (Active Directory, Entra ID, LDAP).
• Experience with IAM platforms like Auth0, Okta and privileged credential vaulting tools.
• Knowledge of PKI (ADCS) and certificate management.
• Familiarity with IAM services on Azure, AWS or GCP.
