Principal Architect

About the role

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Principal Architect to define and drive the enterprise‑level architectural vision. You will operate at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring platforms are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with long‑term outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve target architectures across domains and enterprise platforms (C4–C5).
• Establish architectural principles, standards, and strategic patterns aligned with business goals.
• Lead complex technical decisions and serve as a senior escalation point.
• Guide the design of large‑scale, distributed, mission‑critical systems.
• Drive cross‑domain integrations and shared platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business leaders.
• Mentor Senior Architects and Solution Architects.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive pragmatic adoption strategies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, or architecture.
• Proven experience designing scalable, highly available, and resilient systems.
• Strong expertise in modern architectural paradigms such as Domain‑Driven Design, microservices, event‑driven and cloud‑native approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams or domains.
• Advanced English communication skills with executive‑level influence.
• Experience mentoring architects and leading architecture communities.
