Planner IV – Production Planning

About the role

The Planner IV will lead production planning for Abbott's Structural Heart Division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This role ensures that manufacturing build plans meet service level and inventory targets for both existing and new products.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) inputs and coordinate with Production, Finance, and other operations groups.
• Develop solid production plans that achieve service level and operational objectives, securing finance and operations approval.
• Communicate agreed production quantities and mix to Supply Planner Production and other stakeholders.
• Notify Purchasing of production plan changes promptly.
• Manage backorders end‑to‑end, including root‑cause analysis, prioritisation, and communication.
• Report production plan attainment and hold Operations accountable to the S&OP plan.
• Maintain inventory levels that meet service level, ZSMI, and finished‑goods targets (DIOH).
• Conduct monthly excess, obsolete, and expiring inventory reviews and propose write‑off mitigation actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, STEM, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a materials or procurement environment.
• Strong analytical ability with advanced statistical data analysis and report writing skills.
• Understanding of MRP, purchasing, and production principles.
