Physical Security Engineer

About the role

As a Physical Security Engineer you will safeguard the integrity, availability, and functionality of McKinsey’s physical security infrastructure across its global offices. Based in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will work closely with IT colleagues and external vendors to ensure a secure operating environment.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and continuously monitor security devices worldwide.
• Troubleshoot on‑premises access‑control hardware and software.
• Administer physical and mobile credentials for employees and visitors.
• Collaborate with office IT teams and external vendors to resolve complex security issues.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with security policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT security or physical‑security role.
• Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex access‑control hardware problems.

Required skills

• Lenel OnGuard access‑control platform.
• Video‑management systems such as Genetec, Milestone or Avigilon.
• Monitoring tools (Nagios, ITNM, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Windows OS and Active Directory administration.
• SQL; Snowflake (preferred).
• Cloud platforms – AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Networking fundamentals – DHCP, DNS, VLAN, IPv4, subnetting, Zero‑Trust architecture.
• Incident‑management tools.
