Molding Engineer Internship – Injection Molding Support

About the role

This 6‑month internship supports the injection molding and sales area of a medical‑device manufacturer in Heredia, Costa Rica. You will work on‑site Monday to Friday, providing technical assistance for new product development and process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, and coordinating new molding activities and changes to existing processes.
• Prepare validation protocols, reports, work instructions, and other documentation required for manufacturing.
• Support qualification and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) of new products, processes, and transfers in compliance with FDA regulations.
• Develop equipment, mold, and material specifications to ensure economical and reliable injection molding.
• Estimate costs and timing for capital equipment procurement.
• Create Device History Records and troubleshoot quality issues in molding processes.
• Analyze existing processes, recommend improvements, and implement custom fixtures.
• Train molding and quality‑assurance personnel on fixtures and process use.

Required profile

• Senior engineering student (≥80% of degree completed) or recent graduate (≤1 year).
• Basic knowledge of ISO 13485 and CFR 820 CGMPs (desired).
• Intermediate English (B1‑B2) and ability to perform moderate bending and twisting.
• 0‑1 year of work experience; experience in a medical‑device company is a plus.
