Mid Data Engineer (Snowflake, MongoDB, dbt)

About the role

Coforge is hiring a Mid Data Engineer in Costa Rica, working in a hybrid mode. The role centers on building and maintaining data pipelines and data models in Snowflake and MongoDB, with strong emphasis on data quality, observability and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate data from APIs, databases, event logs and AI development platforms into Snowflake.
• Develop and optimize Snowflake data models and MongoDB structures, ensuring performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Implement data quality checks, observability, lineage tracking, monitoring and security controls across pipelines and databases.
• Automate deployments through CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code, working with analysts, BI developers and product teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture (virtual warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, Time Travel, performance optimization).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB, including data modeling, indexing, aggregation pipelines and performance tuning.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL and Python, including data manipulation and scripting.
• ETL/ELT design patterns, batch and incremental loads, CDC, error handling and retries.
• dbt and data integration tools such as Airflow, Informatica, Talend or Fivetran.
• Dimensional modeling, data warehousing, data lakes/lakehouses, governance, metadata and lineage.
• Pipeline monitoring, observability, alerting and incident management.
• CI/CD, Git, infrastructure-as-code and enterprise security controls (RBAC, masking, encryption).
• Preferred: Snowpark, SnowPro or MongoDB/Snowflake certifications, DevOps tools (Jenkins, SonarQube, GitHub/GitLab, Jira), DORA metrics, Power BI or Tableau.
