Infrastructure Automation Engineer

About the role

Duracell is looking for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer in San Jose, Costa Rica, working in a hybrid setup and reporting to the Sr Manager Infrastructure Hosting Services. The goal is to automate the majority of the Infrastructure Hosting workload, replacing manual, ticket-driven tasks with reliable, repeatable and auditable processes delivered as self-service requests to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize manual Infrastructure Hosting tasks for automation, building on work already delivered in Azure and DevOps.
• Develop automations as code and run them through Azure DevOps pipelines, applying standards for version control, peer review, testing, secrets management, logging and error handling.
• Automate provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management of Azure and on-premises components such as servers, storage and networking.
• Integrate automations with ServiceNow so requests submitted through custom forms trigger the pipelines and return status to the requester, building the forms or partnering with the ServiceNow team.
• Document automations and runbooks so infrastructure teams can use and support them.
• Monitor and improve automation reliability, performance and security compliance.
• Share knowledge and contribute to team automation standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps or automation.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, identity and governance).
• Experience automating on-premises infrastructure (Windows/Linux servers, VMware or storage) and hybrid connectivity to Azure.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and authentication for system-to-system integration.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.

Required skills

• Azure DevOps, including repositories, YAML pipelines, service connections and agents.
• Infrastructure as Code and scripting (Terraform, Bicep/ARM, PowerShell, Python).
• Nice to have: ServiceNow development (Service Catalog, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, custom forms), configuration management tools (Ansible, DSC), ITIL, change management and CMDB, and Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-400).
