Human Resources Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a full‑time Human Resources Specialist to join our team in San Jose, Costa Rica. You will manage HR policies, employee benefits, recruitment, onboarding and compliance, helping to maintain a positive and productive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle: write job descriptions, post openings, source candidates, coordinate interviews and support hiring managers.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring roles such as sales, underwriting and operations.
• Develop recruiting strategies across job boards, LinkedIn, college and community job fairs, and referral networks.
• Lead new‑hire onboarding through the payroll platform, including payroll setup, healthcare enrollment and compliance documentation.
• Create first‑day and first‑week experiences that reflect company values.
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure up‑to‑date documentation for all HR processes.
• Administer employee benefits programs and assist with payroll processing in line with local regulations.
• Implement and maintain a payroll platform, employment agreements, offer letters and onboarding applications for Costa Rica.
• Ensure compliance with Costa Rica labor, payroll and benefits regulations; monitor filings and stay current on employment‑law updates.
• Support the development, documentation and delivery of HR policies, employee handbooks and compliance trainings.
• Act as a trusted resource for employee questions and concerns, promoting a supportive culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR generalist or specialist functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration and payroll.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rica labor and employment regulations.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with department heads and leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
