Human Resources Specialist

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position in San Jose, Costa Rica, focuses on managing HR policies, employee benefits, and personnel support while ensuring compliance with company standards. The specialist will play a key role in talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll administration, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle: write job descriptions, post openings, source candidates, coordinate interviews, and support hiring managers.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring roles such as sales, underwriting, and operations.
• Lead new‑hire onboarding through the payroll platform, including payroll setup, healthcare enrollment, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure up‑to‑date documentation for all HR processes.
• Administer employee benefits programs and assist with payroll processing in line with local regulations.
• Develop and implement payroll platforms, employment agreements, offer letters, and onboarding applications for Costa Rica.
• Monitor compliance with Costa Rica government regulations on hiring, labor, payroll, benefits, and employee classification.
• Support the creation, documentation, and enforcement of HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance training.
• Act as a trusted resource for employee questions and concerns, promoting a supportive culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in human resources, talent acquisition, and HR operations.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rica labor laws, payroll tax, and benefits compliance.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with department heads and leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
