Fixed Assets Assistant – Accounting Support

About the role

We are seeking a Fixed Assets Assistant to support our accounting and finance team in Costa Rica. The role will ensure accurate tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and compliance of the company’s fixed assets, contributing to smooth month‑end and year‑end close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the fixed asset register in the ERP system.
• Record acquisitions, transfers, disposals, retirements and adjustments of assets.
• Calculate and monitor monthly depreciation and amortization schedules.
• Reconcile the fixed asset sub‑ledger to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities related to fixed assets.
• Review capital expenditure documentation for proper classification and capitalization.
• Track construction‑in‑progress projects and support their capitalization upon completion.
• Coordinate periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
• Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Support process‑improvement initiatives and collaborate with Procurement, Operations and other departments.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably with fixed assets accounting.
• Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles and tax‑free zone regulations.
• Intermediate English proficiency (B1/B2).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems for asset management.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
